Material Tags: Overview


Material tags are used to bucket a group of materials under categories.

Example: In a healthcare sector, they can be categorised as essential drugs, vaccines, family planning etc.


Material tags are useful in the following scenarios:

  • On web application:
    • Transactional:
      • While creating transactions, materials can be listed based on their material tags
      • While creating orders, materials can be listed based on their material tags
    • Viewing data, dashboard & reports:
      • While viewing materials under the material view, tags can be used as the basis
      • While viewing current stock & abnormal events, tags can be used as a filter
      • Inventory & activity dashboards can be viewed based on tags
      • All inventory related reports, can be filtered based on material tags
  • On mobile application:
    • While creating transactions, materials should first be selected based on their material tags
    • While creating transactions, materials should first be selected based on their material tags


Navigate to the Tags configuration page


  1. Click on the Configuration tab in the main menu
  2. Select the Tags sub-tab from the drop-down list
  3. View the list of all the configuration option available



Configure material tags

  1. Click on the type field under Material Tags
  2. Type the material tag 
  3. Select the highlighted material tag
  4. Select the option 'Allow only tags defined above (i.e. no user-defined tags)' if new tags should not be allowed at the stage of material setup 
  5. Click on Save button at the end of the page to finalise these configurations

  6. View the confirmation that the configuration has been updated successfully

  7. To categories these materials under these tags, refer to the materials section under setup.




NOTE
Multiple material tags can be configured at the same time
